El Sol de Texas has
served the Hispanic Community for 30 years. Over its quarter century of existence, El
Sol de Texas has won numerous awards and citations for excellence in journalism.
It placed first or second for three years in a row(1989, 1990, 1991) as the "Most
Outstanding Spanish Language Newspaper in the United States," as judged by an
independent panel in the annual contest of the National Association of Hispanic
Publications (NAHP). The goal of El Sol de Texas is to continue to serve the
Dallas-Fort Worth Hispanic community by providing excellent coverage of local news and

Yerba Buena Productions (YBP) was founded in 1992 when three Mexican-American filmmakers --Fernando Cano, Susan Jasso, and Laura Varela -- met while attending the University of Texas at Austin's Film Production track. Formed with the intention of producing projects aimed at the growing Latino market, YBP has already made various short films, documentaries, and a feature length film.
